The God of the Old Testament, suggests atheist Richard Dawkins, is “a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser.” On the issue of the passages in the Hebrew Scriptures that detail warfare based on God’s command, questions and tensions do rise for the faithful Christian believer. The moral and theological challenge should be examined. On Tuesday, October 11, the Shreveport Chapter of Reasons To Believe will examine this monumental issue, using Dr. Ken Samples’ book Christianity Cross Examined. Bob Wolf will lead the gathering and discussion with “Didn’t God Command Genocide?” Our gathering will take place at 6:30 pm at Shreveport’s Brookwood Baptist Church.
