Many have proclaimed that scientific advancements have made the idea of God unnecessary. Science was once declared by one scientist as “omnipotent.” We do not need God to explain the universe and life, they say. Is this a true claim? In fact, there has developed a contrast between what scientists expected to find and what has been uncovered by research across multiple scientific disciplines. Theologian and philosopher Kenneth Samples writes about several of these discoveries in his most recent book Christianity Cross-Examined. The Shreveport Chapter of Reasons To Believe will begin a study of the new book on Tuesday, January 11 at our monthly gathering at Shreveport’s Brookwood Baptist Church. Mark Riser will lead the discussion on “Hasn’t Scientific Discovery Made God Unnecessary?” The Chapter gathering will take place at 6:30 pm. All are welcome and we invite you, if you are in the area, to join us.
