Many times Jesus answered a question, but not in the way people think He ought to answer it.
It is the same way here.
Jesus wanted the young ruler to think about what he was asking.
o “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, but One—God (Luke 18:19, HCSB).
This may sound like an odd way of putting the statement.
Some people,
o Skeptics
o Muslims
o Jehovah’s Witnesses, for example.
Some people will use this passage and the parallel passages to say that Jesus said that He was not good and, therefore, not God, as we Christians claim.
But, that is not the case at all.
