Read Luke 24:25-27, 44-49.
Most believers would agree that the Bible is unique among all other books. No other book can accurately claim to be the word of God written in the words of people. The Bible reveals to us who God is, His plan for mankind’s salvation, and His will for us. When we engage with God’s Word, we can find the foundation and identity for our lives as His followers. Why does this happen? Scripture reveals who we really are. There are many things out there which are, literally, competing to build our worldview. But, the Bible gives us an honest and realistic picture of who we are as human beings. We can find our true identity when we find out the identity of Jesus Christ, who stands as the center of the whole Bible. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ and immerse ourselves in the Word, we can find an unshakeable identity from which our lives flow. The Scriptures were inspired by God who is our Creator, so there is no one better to help us understand ourselves than the One who created us. The Scripture works to shape us and our thoughts. It equips us for good works. We need to turn to God’s Word on a consistent basis. I hope that each one of you has a plan for reading and interacting with the Bible on a daily basis. If not, take time today to find one and start it.
