The Tree of Life is also present in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:9). The result of taking fruit would be to “live forever” (Gen. 3:22). Given what had just happened, if man took from that fruit and lived forever, he would be in a constant state of rebellion against God.
Therefore, the man and the woman could not live in the Garden of Eden anymore.
