The ABC’s of Salvation

Thank you for visiting my blog page. There are many reasons that you might have come here. But, I can’t let you pass by without asking you the greatest question ever: Are you a Christian? If you answer yes, I hope that you are living for Him, serving in a Bible-believing church, and reaching out to others.

If you honestly answer no to that question, then I’d like to take the opportunity to tell you how to become a Christian. It really comes down to three basic steps

1. Admit. Agree with God that you have sinned against Him. Sin separates us from God. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, HCSB).

2. Believe. Jesus Christ came to die on a cross as the sacrifice for our sins. We must put our trust in Him for forgiveness and salvation. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9, HCSB).

3. Confess. We must call on Jesus to save us, because we cannot save ourselves. “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13, HCSB).

Perhaps you would like to take a moment to speak to God in prayer and commit yourself to Him. Prayer doesn’t have to be fancy and use big words, but it does need to be sincere. You can use this prayer as a guide,

“Dear God, I admit and agree with you that I am a sinner and have rebelled against You. I deserve hell and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose from the dead. He is the only way that I can receive forgiveness and eternal life. Forgive my sin. I want to turn from it. I want Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I want to follow You from now on. Thank you, Lord, for your love and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, that’s great! What happens now? The first thing I would suggest is that you get together with other Christians in a Bible-believing church. You can tell them about your decision and begin to follow Jesus as His disciple. Also, you should get a Bible and begin to read it, starting with the biography of Jesus written by John.

If you are now a Christian, you have begun a new life.
