God places the man in a garden and he and the woman begin their life together. God has only one prohibition.
· “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Gen. 2:16-17 (ESV)
There must have been many opportunities to eat in the garden, but God says that there is one place from which no eating is allowed. The penalty for violating this command will be death.
