In 2022, during Vacation Bible School at Brookwood Baptist Church, my eleven-year-old granddaughter Audrey came to my wife and me saying that she had placed her faith in Jesus Christ. We were overjoyed with her and her decision. After about a year, we were finally able to get her into baptism class and on the schedule to follow Jesus in believer’s baptism. During the class, Audrey specifically asked that I be the one to do the baptism. With the approval of Brookwood’s pastor, David Rice, I did. It was a tremendous moment for both of us.
She wrote out a testimony before her baptism.
“God,
I know I have disobeyed You and gone my own way. My sin separates me from You and I am sorry that I have disobeyed You and earned Your punishment., but today I turn back to You. I believe that Jesus died on the cross in my place so that my sins can be forgiven. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. I trust Jesus to save me. Thank You for sending Jesus to live a perfect life and to take away my punishment. God, please forgive me and help me to obey You and to live for You the rest of my life. I’m here so hopefully one day you can forgive me for all my sins! I’m so incredibly grateful for all and everyone in this room. I pray that one day that everyone gets to learn more about you and how we’re alive because of you. You sent your one and only son to save us from our sins. John 3:16 says ‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whomever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ If you don’t know what that means it’s basically saying that God so loved enough the world to come as Jesus and die for us, so that anyone who trusts in him will be saved from sin.
I am so very thankful for this moment and the people in this room. I could not be happier with the people and church I have.
Now I end my very long speech/prayer. You may now dip me in some holy waterrr!!!”
Her desire for a relationship with Jesus Christ is amazing! Pray that this will begin a wonderful Christian life for Audrey.
