What does the general revelation, or the record of nature, tell us about prehistory?
The general revelation agrees with Scripture in showing us that the universe and Earth are old. Life appeared on Earth approximately 3.8 billion years ago at the earliest possible opportunity.
In our observations of the Earth and the universe, we see that the same processes have been in operation throughout the history of our planet.
We are not unaware of what happened when animals roamed the Earth. The fossil record is our window into the history of Earth before man was created.
That record shows that a definite food cycle existed. Primary producers, Earth’s plant life, were consumed by primary consumers, the herbivores. Those herbivores, in turn, were consumed by carnivores.
Anyone who has seen dinosaur documentaries or the movie Jurassic Park is familiar with this cycle.
