A new year is here! Let us resolve for 2026 to, in the words of Peter,
“18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on that eternal day.” (2 Peter 3:18, NET)
Peter is writing to a group of believers who were facing trials and the problem of false teachers. The admonition to those Christians is to live faithfully, especially in light of the return of Jesus Christ.
We face the same challenges today. Many Christians in this world face persecution for their faith. Most of us face trials of various kinds. We also see every day the terrible fruit of false teachers and how many people are led astray.
What do we do in 2026? The same thing Peter told his listeners 1900 years ago: grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. We can meet these challenges by growing in the understanding of the gospel and living it out. The fact that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead can give us a firm foundation for living in this new year!
