Although George Washington proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving in 1789, President Abraham Lincoln, amid the crisis of the Civil War, made the celebration the regular date for the last Thursday in November.
This week, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, remember the words of Scripture, “…in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:18, NET).
What are some of the things for which I give thanks?
I am thankful that Jesus Christ has made me a child of God through His sacrificial death on the cross and His glorious bodily resurrection.
I am thankful for my family, my wife, my son and my daughter, their spouses, and my five grandchildren.
I’m thankful for my church, Brookwood Baptist, where I continue to serve and teach. My Life Group is studying the book of Acts. Brookwood Apologetics is reaching more and more of our fellow church members.
I’m also thankful for the ministry of apologetics, through my teaching and writing, and the number of people that continue to subscribe to this blog.
Be thankful this week!
